Global is a fairly new word, originally referring to something spherical in shape (noun globe), but in the late 1890s it started to be used to represent “worldwide” or “universal,” likely as it took a while for people to embrace the idea of the world as round. Today, we hear the word “global” all the time, e.g., global economy or global warming, and now in the PlayCyber Global League (PCGL).
We decided to create a global community of cybersecurity enthusiasts because it seems to us that cybersecurity isn’t limited by borders or boundaries. Our challenges, opportunities, and threats are more similar than dissimilar. We thought, “Here’s a chance to learn from each other to get a better sense of the whole of what’s happening in the field. If cybersecurity has no borders or boundaries, why should our network be limited that way?”
Joining a global community can bring numerous benefits to individuals, organizations, and even entire countries. In today’s interconnected world, being a part of a global network can help you stay informed, connect with others, and make a positive impact.
