Resources for Blacks in Cyber

The United States recognizes February as Black History Month. Other countries like the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, the Netherlands, and Germany are also known to host Black History celebrations, though maybe not monthlong or in February.

At PCGL, we love a good celebration, but we do not need a specific day or month to celebrate specific communities. We appreciate each of the unique experiences and places that helped shape you into the people you are. That said, we wanted to take this opportunity to share a few international resources that may be useful.

  • Black Girls Hack
Nonprofit that provides resources, training, mentoring, and access to Black girls and women and increases representation and diversity in the cybersecurity field and in the executive suites
  • Blacks in Cybersecurity
Meetup group and conference series to help highlight and elevate the Black community in cybersecurity
  • Cybersafe Foundation
Mission to ensure inclusive and safe digital access in Africa
  • CybersecFill
    Independent cybersecurity blog in Nigeria
  • Cybersechaven
Nigerian cybersecurity community that hosts weekly webinars, shares resources and opportunities, and provides mentorship
  • Cyblack
Networking and collaboration among African cybersecurity students in Europe
  • Diary of Hackers
Award-winning cybersecurity community that aims to promote cybersecurity education and capacity building in Africa
  • GRCAfriq
Cohort with a vision to raise the next generation of Black governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) professionals
  • SheSecures
Empowering young African women in cybersecurity, promoting cyber literacy, and building careers

This list is by no means exhaustive. We view it as just a start. Most of the organizations listed seek to attract and support Black cyber pros as well as promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the cybersecurity field.

In the true spirit of community, we’d like to ask you to help us grow the list throughout the year. If you are aware of any other resources or groups that should be on this page, please let us know! Say #add-this on Discord and point us in the right direction.
